Mint, Peach, and Gold

Mint green is so hot right now! It just keeps coming up in everything from clothes to cakes! I couldn’t be more pleased, I love this mellow, fun color! We recently worked up a new design for a show. I knew I wanted to do a first birthday cake design, and I wanted it to be pretty gender neutral. I started with a “canvas” of rustic, textured buttercream. Then I started seeing elements of vintage birthday parties with ruffly paper poms, bunting, and pinwheels. Soon the color scheme started to form in my mind- mild, muted tones of mint green and peach, with a great vintage gold to add a pop. This cake was just fun, from concept to creation!

Baby Shower Fun!

 We love baby shower cakes! They are so much fun to make, and they always get the greatest reactions! 

Our latest was for a sailor themed baby shower, complete with anchor, life preserver, edible “sand”, and a darling little baby sailor!

 

This one just goes to show that even a sheet cake can be cute and custom! 

Happy Birthday to Us!

We are so excited to be celebrating one year in our shop! It’s been a crazy awesome ride so far, and we are so thankful for all of the support we have had from our family, friends, and the local community.

We can’t wait to see what the next year holds for SRC! We look forward to more exciting new cake designs, delicious new goodies, and most of all to adding many new customers to the SRC family!

 

Featured!!

We are so excited for our cake to be featured in the latest Jacksonville Wedding Styles Online Magazine! Several months ago, we had the privilege of participating in a styled wedding shoot with The Jacksonville Bride blog and many other amazingly talented vendors! It was a gorgeous and fun whimsical tangerine theme that incorporated bright colors and charming details including parasols and tangerine colored candies!

We decided to go with a three tier cake with one tall tier and a pop of color on the front with sugar poms in varying shades of tangerine. It created a fun, whimsical, and modern look that fit really well with the rest of the decor.

Welcome to the SRC blog!

We are so excited to begin this blog and share a little of our sweet life! A little bit about us:

We are a husband and wife team of cake decorators/bakery owners/official cookie tasters (It’s a pretty cool job). Our bakery is a cute little shop in Neptune Beach, FL, just a short walk from the beach. We offer custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, bars, fudge, and other candies. All of our baked goods and candies are made fresh in our shop, nothing is shipped in or frozen. Our goal is to provide quality delicious baked goods that take you back to the warm fuzzies you experienced when you tasted a chocolate chip cookie that your grandma made or a cupcake from your mother’s oven.

We have been making custom cakes for a few years now. We started out making cakes for friends and family, and soon realized it was something we wanted to pursue as a business. We opened our bakery in February of 2012. It has been a crazy, awesome, scary, exhilarating ride so far!

This little blog will be a way for us to share our latest cake projects and a little bit about the process of cake decorating. We hope you enjoy!
